Hey everyone, I have an LS VTEC with about 15 miles on it that I am still working on the kinks. I've got it running really decent now but am having a problem with oil pressure. If I don't run the engine every 3 days or so,the engine struggles and stay at about 200 rpms and the oil light is on.
Then after about 3 seconds, the motor runs normal and the light turns off. Does anyone have any ideas? thanks
It's a VTEC oilpump from my b16a by the way

Mine sometimes does that too. Try to keep the revs up a little bit. What kind of oil are you using?
I have 16,000 miles on my ls/vtec and I've been using Castrol 10w-30 and just recently switch to Royal Purple and that is when I have noticed the oil pressure issue for just 2-3 seconds.
I just try to keep the rev's up around 2000 just so the car isn't idling without oil.
Do you have any leaks?
How are you supplying oil to the head? From the oil filter or the stock oil pressure sender?

I was using 30 Weight non detergent since I was seating the piston rings. I now also have castrol 10w-30 and it did it today. I do the same with the revving though.
I'm supplying the oil from the line that goes from the golden eagle sandwich plate, to the back of the head.
I do have a slight oil leak but it is coming from my oil pan drain bolt.
Thanks again for the reply

I noticed some really bad leaking today. I was going to do another compression test and noticed there was oil filling up the spark plug cylinders. I could barely see the top of each sparkplug so those gaskets on the valve cover need to be replaced.
Also, I found more oil on the ground looking as if it's maybe right below the oil pump and also on the other side of the engine there was a bigger puddle but I can't tell where it came from yet.

It isnt due to the oil leak. Oil pressure builds w/ RPM and also dies without them (makes sense since the oil pump is crank driven). Basically at sub-500 rpm, the oil pump doesnt make enough pressure to make the oil light go away....fix the idle problem and you'll fix your oil pressure problem.
