Default block damage

i got an issue here. the mains on the block and caps have some wear on it from breaking a crankshaft. some are okay and some are pretty deep.

i sent my block out to laskey and they said that it's going to cost around $600-$700 plus new main caps because they well to make new tangs for the align hone. the crank is going to move up .015-.020 so i will have to get a thicker headgasket and file the dowel pins on the oil pump main seal. they said if i provide a new block, they can sleeve it for $900.
i was wondering if there's shop out there that can weld some material on the damage then align hone it. what do you guys think is my best option now?

Even for that price you can get a new sleeved block. Aint worth it. And how exactly do you break a crank??

You don't want to weld on any aluminum block.

i have no idea how i broke it. it was knocking then i dropped the oil pan and there it was. must have been a bad installation by local machine shop.

dang, that really sucks. You cant take it back to the machine shop, or another to see what they say about it, and have proof of it(i know more than likely not). But you can definetly find another sleeved block for that much. not worth it imo.

almost sounds like mains werent tourqed(wow i dont think i remeberd how to spell. ha) or wrong size bearings. Or running extremely rich and wiped them dry.
