Default Engine Problems

We just installed a Z6 in a eg 4 dr and it sounds like the starter is just spinning, we are getting fuel. The cam isnt turning though, almost like the starter isnt engageing. We pulled it out and tested it and it works fine. But when we put it in , it sounds like the starter just spins freely and wont crank the motor. Any ideas?

have you looked at the ring gear? when you take out the starter shine a light into the hole and look at the condition of the teeth, could be worn and causing the pinion to not engage a trick would be to turn the crank shaft so an unworn gear would be ready to enagage when you crank over. but you could have the wrong starter too

just a suggestion but i think you might have the wrong one, it was a swap right so the new starter came with the motor and tranny or you just swapped out the motor?

well hello Fellow michigander. Did you check the timing belt to see if it was snapped. When they snap the motor spins fast.
