Air Bag replacement?
My air bag on my steering is somewhat deployed, well its still in the steering wheel but there is 2 rips showing that the airbag didnt come out. and the srs light isnt on or anything but ive found a spare airbag around my garage and was wondering if i can replace it without the light coming on or any other problems. Thanks
yes, but like rick said, make sure you unhook the battery first...and make sure theres no power in the car what so ever... if you've never seen an airbag go off in someones hand, it isn't pretty. just be safe
i blew up 4 honda airbags in the past 5 weeks by hooking them up to a car battery......it will really F you up if your near it. and it stinks real bad too(airbags deploy by chemical reaction)

they wont deploy, i was scared too. i messed with some last week; if u give it like 20 minutes b4 u try to change em out, ur good...
most air bags deploy by a "black box" thats in the car and reads vehicle speed and momentum. others have crush sensors, but when the vehicle speed decreases rapidly(from a collision) the black box signals the air bag to deploy. Most airbags have the same amount of charge as a .410 gauge shotgun round. I sure as hell dont want that going off in my hands...and deploys at 100+mph. Just make sure all the power to the vehicle is completely drained, dont want to read about another one of these accidents...if youre uncomfortable doing this then i would suggest having a friend that is comfortable with this job help, or do it for you. just my .02
