Air bag Question
Ok so i am putting in a used Unblown Airbag in the car. Iam afraid of hooking up the airbags due to them blowing when I turn the key. so what do I need to do in order for them not to blow?

Re: Air bag Question (B18C1 '96 Coupe)
i switched my original steering to a jdm ek9 srs recently here's the how to:
-disconnect your battery completly and wait til start to work for at least 10 mins
-work out of your car,in the drivers seat area, never in front of the steering
- install the airbag in the steering wheel
-hook it up on the yellow plug
-hide the plug and mount the covers on the steering
-connect the battery
- i used a long stick with a hook on one end too turn the key from the outside of the car
- turn the key to the 2th position (before ignition)
- wait til the srs lamp went out (if not, somethings fucked and i suggest u go to honda )
-when the light went out everthings fine
hope i could help

Re: Air bag Question (VTECMaster)
Ok so I should be able to just hook everything up and no probs? I was thinking of just taking it to honda and having them hook them up. so if they blew them it was there fault.

Maybe I asked the wrong question. If teh SRS light is on now. will plugging in teh airbagfs make a big differance? or should I pay honda?

Re: Air bag Question (B18C1 '96 Coupe)
if you dont want airbags and want the srs light to go away, unplug the yellow plug on back of cluster.
as far as installing airbags, its easy. driver side is just 3 bolts that holds the airbag in. passenger side has 2 or 3 bolts on each side, held in by brackets. just disconnect your battery and they wont blow.

Re: Air bag Question (PhreeStyleHB)
they are already connected. just not the yellow cables. to the bags. The battery is out. I just dont want to plug the yellow cables up plug battery in and pow go the airbags. they aint cheap. So as long as I hook them up with the battery unplugged nothing should go wrong. I may have to reset teh SRS computer but they wont blow right.

There isn't a single dealership that will install a airbag that wasn't bought from them. If they install it and its a faulty unit that doesn't work in a collision they are liable. Your before off taking it either to a regular shop that might do it or test you luck yourself.

Re: Air bag Question (goodfella732)
thats mainly my question. is what are the chances that if I hook everything up back to teh PC without reseting the SRS computer will they go off. There have to be people that have put in their airbags or bought airbags after a wreck. All I am asking is if teh SRS computer is in already pulling a code for teh airbags not being their will it blow them if I hook the airbags back up and plug everything back in.

Re: Air bag Question (B18C1 '96 Coupe)
Im guessing this is why most people let the dealership or trained collision experts do it. I cringe whenever the I drive in a car with the SRS/Airbag light on. For something that suppose to save lives it scares the **** out of me. I know they just don't pop but I've seen people get real messed up from exploding ABs.

Exactly.
If the SRS light doesn't go out, then there is a problem.
