Thicker head gasket for F20B-Turbo.
Was curious to see if anyone has had luck with running a 3mm Headgasket on a F20b Dohc vtec. Trying to refrain from having to be **** about tuning, so i want to lower the compression as much as possible without changing pistons. Nothing like omg just have a old 18g setup laying around, and wanted to run about 6-8psi.
Not a good idea. If you are gonna boost , you really need a proper tune. I think you can use other F series pistons to get your needed compression drop. You have a good motor man, don't screw it up now.
Well yeah a proper tune would be included, but lesser compression would obviously be easier to tune for. Just didn't feel like ripping everything out right now, so wanted to see if anyone had luck with just using a thicker gasket on these motors for mild boost. The motor internals are plenty strong, just tuning for such a high compression stock can be...well lets just a pain in the *** and very easy to go boom. I checked with cometic, and yeah i would have to buy 150 gaskets in order for them to make the spec's i want lol.
