b16a vs b18c
so there are two swapped out civic eg hatches, both in same condition, zero rust, low claimed miles on engine/trans. 92 civic is a b16a from a 99 si with I/H/E its white. then there another 92 civic with a b18c1 I/H/E and its that SI blue. my question is, is, which motor is better? theres like a 10% chance i might boost one nof them. i know b18's boost better. but N/A which motor is best for the EG hatch? I like the b16a IMO but i think im gona go with the b18. I just wana here what you guys have to say....selling the accord to my brother.

sorry :/ i searched and didnt find anything. Do you know what a b18c1 would run in the 1/4 mile? im only gona be taking it to the drag track once or twice as i autoX..
That I wouldn't be able to tell you for sure. There are too many variables involved. But a stock Acura Integra GSR should be able to run mid 15s with an experienced driver.
u got any pics of your b18 civic i could see? i checked ur profile and only found your build pictures..
i was gona go witht eh b18 anyway.
sorry for reposting such a frequent question..
my goal is to take down a 1996 turbo SR20 240sx. he stupid cuz he turbo'd his sr20 when were racing autoX he never gets past turbo lag.lol

if you were going with the B18 anyway, why post?
ive just heard around the b18 like to be boosted more so then the b16. I posted cuz i wanted opinoins... and i said autoX twice.. read my post and U wouldnt ask questions. Not that hes stupid just turbos arent for autoX..
who says turbos aren't for autoX? i get full spool at 2400rpm. It all depends on how you do it.
oh.. and that "I've heard" BS ... even d15 motors like to be boosted.
autoX... I've beaten various cars when I had my stock D16, even Type Rs. It's all about the driver. If you can't beat him when he's not in boost, suppose he gets a smaller turbo and gets rid of turbo lag, what's plan B?
Actually, if you asked real questions like:
"What are factory hp ratings for B16A and B18C1?", people would be more open. when you ask silly, annoying questions like, "how fast will i go with x motor in y car?" People will give you crap becuase that's all relative and too many variables.

forget about beating him.lol or boosting my b18..the i heard was related to like the b18 having a longer piston stroke, idk it was awhile ago. so nvm about that..im not this serious about taking down the 240..so theres no need for a plan B. i just wanted opinoins about each car that i listed.
In N/a form the b18 is better, makes a little more hp, but also makes more torque. Esp if this car is your daily go with the b18, you will like it much better. I have a 99 si that I drive daily and believe me its torque less. If you do decide to go down the turbo route, either motor would be fine. My question for you is find out what tranny is in both of these cars. Because if the B18c is mated to a LS tranny is may not be as fun to drive as a closer geared GSR or B16 tranny.

Therefore, when you know what your variables are, different motors, same chassis, which motor is stronger? Of course, B18C1. Logically the civic with the B18C would be relatively faster in acceleration. I'm not trying to be a ***** about this. It's more helpful to us help you better understand and answer your own question.

Since im NEW to B series engines dik which "logicly" is better. idk that. I know ZERO about the B series engines. but im willing to learn. It wasnt a question when i asked what the 1/4 mile time is. iwas a jw kinda thing. like a side note if someone knew the answer.
its not all in HP numbers that i care about redline. one could have less HP but have lower weight. that wasnt what I was wanting to know. i was talking about realiabilty, perofrmance but not HP ratings..
performance is based on torque and hp ratings. Besides, that's the type of question that would have better feedback. Just a thought. Reliability comes from the owner who up-keeps the motor with routine maintenance.
But your initial question was "two eg hatches". Weight difference is minimal.
