Default First build, engine selection. Where do I reasearch Honda engine models?

Ive decided its time to finally do a restoration project. I want to (as of right now) rebuild a 88-91 Civic or CRX. That being said I would like to start doing research on the different Honda engine models available. I basically want to build the engine as much as possible and keep it NA. Where would everyone recommend I begin doing research. Im not a nube but no expert. I just really want to educate myself about it and then build a solid engine to drop into a fully restored car. Thanks in advance!

Get a b16. They are pretty cheap. I would start there then maybe a ls block later on down the line If you need more power

Intended budget and application would help people know which direction to point you. I agree, a B16 would be a good way to go. There's an abundance of parts and ways to make power, and is probably the most straightforward swap into the chassis without a lot of work. If you're looking to get crazy, do an f20c swap and turn it RWD

Well my goal is to have the 88-91 Civic Sedan as a daily driver. I basically want to fit as much engine in as I can while not removing the creature comforts (AC / Powersteering). But I def want it to have a little bit more juice then most. Ive been reading about bolting different heads onto blocks to add vtech and whatnot. Not that I will be able to go to that extent the first time, or that I will even need to, but i would at least like to educate myself about it.
