so i have a 99 civic dx, when the car is parked and turned off keys not in the ignition it some times makes a high pitched beep that lasts about 4-5 seconds its not very loud but is easily heard at night when im standing in the driveway the car runs fine theres no problems or CEL, my mom has a 2005 civic and it does this aswell maybe every 5-10 mins. This is very strange anyone ever hear this?

no it is cpmming form the front of hte car not fuel pump, and i have no alarm, seems maybe to be comming from driver side on the fire wall but im not 100% i havent narrowed it down yet

does it sound electrical or like a mechanical sqweek?

 

Does it happen only just after the car has been driven? Like noises associated with the engine cooling down?

 

no it happends even if the car is fully cooled down sounds possibly electrical its very strange

Finally! I have searched the web for an hour trying to find someone who hears the same thing I do. I have heard this while driving also but rarely because usually the noise of the car covers it. But most often I notice it when my 98 civic is turned off, key out, etc just like you. As you state at times it is every 5 to 10 minutes or so and lasts just a few seconds. But it is not always. I have finally had two other persons agree that they hear it also. The first time I noticed it I thought maybe it was pressure from the fuel tank so I opened it and removed the gas cap... this did not help. It is almost impossible to pin point where it is coming from because it occurs so unexpectedly. Tonight it happened an hour after I had parked the car.
I can't imagine that only our 3 cars are doing this...Maybe we just live in a really quite area so we hear it and others don't.
