Default seatbelt mounting rules lessened?

Does anyone know if SCCA and/or NASA lessened some of their requirements regarding seat belt mounting through vehicle floorboards? (steel or tin, not alum)

I thought I remembered some old rule that a 4 x 4 x 1/8" plate had to be used when securing though a floorboard (like for an Improved Touring car), but I don’t see that specified anywhere. They just mention using large enough washers to spread the load.

I have a spot on my car where a frame mount isn't accessible and a 4x4 plate would poke out from the bottom of the car (edgewise), but a slightly narrower and longer plate would work well.

I'm not trying to skirt safety because it's my butt in the seat, but does anyone know if those requirements got lessened? If they even existed at all?

Thanks.

I dont have the rules handy but I believe SCCA requirements specify a minimum area, not a minimum measurement.

I don't remember any rule about a minimum size for harness mounting. I thought it was always subjective and said you had to have sufficient area.

There is a rule pertaining to the size of mounting plates for roll cage to chassis/body.

Okay, thanks. I know the rules regarding the roll cage, but they concentrate more on a maximum area. The seat belt mounting seems subjective as you said.

Just confirming. Maybe there was an old requirement or I'm thinking of something else.
