Default just a few questions(cluster, headlights)

alight so i found out that i need a new cluster for my 99 si. a machanic replaced the speed censor in the car, but since then my rpm gauge sometimes sticks, and my temperature gauge doesnt work at all. how hard is it to replace the cluster? and when i do should i fix those two problems?
also my headlights are hid's and the mechanic said i have a bad converter, where can i buy just that. or how can i check to tell if its bad?

Before you replace the cluster, make sure the connectors at the rear of the cluster are tightly seated and the connector terminals are not damaged.

Also check the 1-wire coolant temperature sending unit under the distributor.

The dash temperature gauge gets the temperature signal from a sending unit located below the distributor. This sending unit is connected to a single wire. One possible reason that the dash temp gauge does not work could be that the sending unit is bad or its connector is loose or damaged.

When you say the "converter" for your HIDs, I believe what you're talking about is the ballast. Is one of your headlights not working? Ballasts are usually sold in pairs but I'm sure you could find a spare one somewhere. Prices vary.
