Well this has been going on and off for the past three days. The first time i was driving down the road by myself and came off a light and it just wont go past 20 mph and its sound like its bouncing off the rev limiter. Second time I was taking my gf to go buy her street bike on the way there just normal driving and again 20 mph wont go past and sounds like its bouncing off the rev limiter again I shut the car off for a min popped the hood and the negative battery cable was loose so i tighten it off i went. When i get off of a light the car boggs and then all the sudden feels like it gets the right amount of fuel and then drives fine. Could this be the culperate?

So after that the battery light stays on until i give it gas right after i start it up .Then shuts off . Its a d16y7 with 191,000 miles on it . Sometimes it will just shut off out of no where but would never do this 20 mph junk. Also it has a vtec ecu from a y8 in it since for some reason the y7 everytime someone would touch it the car would just shut off. Anyone have ideas on this I mean the compression is bad on the motor i can feel blow by through the oil cap when i take it off.

Get the right computer, that's probably the issue.

So at 20 mph in gear, if you pushed the throttle pedal, the engine would rev to very high rpm but the car would not accelerate?

And sometimes the engine just turns off while driving? When this happens, do all the dash warning lights turn off or do they remain lit?

Your alternator could be going, your ECU is definitely wrong, check your distributor rotor/cap/ignitor. The air you feel when you take the oil cap off is just the air forced around by the moving parts...why would you even take it off while the engine is running is beyond me.

The best to describe is like if the car was boosted and and making out the injectors and it just doesn't wanna go above . I did try to shift it today and it went out 20 but it was probably like 10% of power with the pedal mashed . I don't really know if the dash lights stay on after it dies I can't really remember . I'll take the alternator out tomorrow and take it to autozone along with the battery and I'll replace the ecu tonight
. werid tho the guy had 2 ecus in the car when I bought it wonder if this was a constant problem for him if he was just burning up ecus

well i think it runs better w the d16y7 ecu thank god its not using up as much gas as that y8 ecu. I never took off the battery and it has a small like speaker ground wire thats maybe like 2 ft long and is connected to a bolt on the strut tower area and supposedly thats my ground . When i tried not connecting that and using another ground wire this pos wont start the new on i grounded to the motor to the battery. Any suggestions?

That's probably a OEM ground. Mine is grounded there with a small looking wire on my 100% OEM hatch.
