did you make sure your spark plugs are in tight? (I had a misfire too..due to a loose spark plug on #3..no clue as to how it happened)

Are you throwing any check engine lights? That is a would be a huge help. When you pulled your old spark plugs out, How did the wear look on the number 4? The answers to these question would really help out trying to figure it out.

It sounds like your EGR Valve. You have to locate the ports on your intake manifold and clean them. I just had to do it on my brothers accord. He had 3 cylinders misfiring. As soon as i cleaned them, everything was fine. No more CEL's and ran MUCH better. Ill get you a diagram shortly....

You need to remove the chamber and take the EGR plate off....as soon as you take it off you will see how clogged it is....

Sounds like an injector problem. As soon as the injector gets warm the coil opens and no injector operation. I would check resistance across the injector when the vehicle is misfiring.

ok so the plugs are tight they are tourqed to specs, also it is throwing a code p-0304 engine mis fire cylinder 4. so they did pull the injector and clean it but that did nothing. when i removed the plugs they seemed to be in condtion but to me they seemed a little to light grey. the car is a d16y7 so it does not come with an EGR valve that is for the d16y5

you would assume an egr problem would result in a random misfire and or multiply cylinders and not just one cylinder.

here is what i would do.. clear the codes..

take your number 4 spark plug and swap it with number 1 cylinder.

take your number 4 spark plug wire..and try to swap it with number 3 on distributor side.

take your number 4 injector..and swap it with number 2 injector.

from there..test drive the vehicle.. if the misfire follows what you swapped around...you found your problem. if the misfire stays at number 4...then check compression on that cylinder.

I completely agree with this logical plan. Doing this should pinpoint the cylinder 4 problem. You might also test for battery voltage at the connector for fuel injector 4 when the key is in ON(II).

wouldnt swapping your wires on just the distributor side mess with you timing? And if you read the troubleshoot, it gives the same method to find problem except for changing the wire itself...

sounds like fuel injector or other fuel related problem. You say it runs fine for a couple minutes or til the engine warms up. While the engine is in open loop, your engine dumps in extra fuel to get the car to warm up quicker. Once the car goes into closed loop, it sounds like the shortage of fuel is causing a misfire. Could be a clogged injector. However, i would definitely do what was recommended in switching plugs and wires to be positive the problem is isolated to cyl 4. and not a problem caused by cyl 4 equip.

definately a clogged ingector. try squeezing the fuel return line with pliers to raise fuel pressure and see if this does any thing. Then switch out the injector.

so the problam is fixed it was due to a faulty spark plug wire that was arcing and causeing a mis fire

grats.. screw those troubleshoot charts!!! simple logic for the win!!!

in your case the charts would have had you checking compression, crankshaft sensors, and chasing head gaskets.

and you are right..chaning wires on dist. side would affect the firing order.. my mind was on length fitment..sorry

FYI...Injectors have been self cleaning for over 20 years...

however, if you own a DMM, check the resistance across your spark wires, check your spark gap, check the ends of your plugs..you'll see if they're eaten up..Check your injectors resistance. and yea..trouble shooting guides rock...you can find them online for download all over.

Does the motor flood out? or back fire? smoke? anything to indicate it shooting too much fuel? I've heard of injectors getting "stuck open" and when you leave the car to idle for a bit It'll shut off and then not start for a while cause it flooded. yet...that was on a V6 Chevy Corsica...and turned out to be a vacuum line..but eh..worth a look.
