removable amp... what to use as plug for power lines?
I've made my amp easily removable (for me and for theives
). Naturally the speaker wires and RCAs easily plug in and out, but it's a pain to unscrew my power and ground lines every time. I figured I'd just put a plug on the power lines so I could do a quick disconnect. I don't know what to use as a plug though. I figured just a regular household A/C plug or maybe the plugs used for R/C car batteries. Anyone got any better ideas that might look a bit better or more importantly, allow for a heavy gauge wire at the plug?
Thanks

you can use the a fuse holder
The one that is like a tube, easy to unscrew and is a saftey.
Use atleast 60amp fuse so you don't cheat your amp of power.

I actullay have something made just for this. its called a quick disconnect. Its like a really big connector, It's a big grey block, you put both the ground and power wires into it..
don't know the part number for it either, but if you have a Carquest Auto Parts around, they can get it for ya
edit: heres some pics
you can see half of the connector here, that grey box on the left

heres a picture of the whole thing.. kinda hard to see, but u get the idea
and yes, i know it is big, but unlike most connectors, theres barely any voltage drop with this thing

Actually, nope, never heard of them, but now that I've seen what's out there I'll probably find it at some audio or electrical store around here.
Thanks for the info.

that is a Molex Connector, used for trailer wiring... you can get them from your local trailer/RV/Auto Parts store... either that, or if its a smaller amp, you can get yourself a 4 plug Trailer wiring harness, and just split your power wire to 2 of the wires, and your ground to 2... they are usually a 14 gauge wire, so its not that bad of a conduit if its a small amp... But i recommend Molex Connectors...
Excellent. Thanks y'all. I'm gonna have a kickin removable system for my race car like you all do I'm sure...
