You need to hit it with some oil. WD40 will do the trick temporarily to prove if that is the problem or not. Long term you'll need an oil that is less likely to evaporate as quickly as WD40 can.

Glad I'm not the only one with the problem. I notice I had to shut it a tad harder than usual for it to even lock!
There are a few minor parts that can be purchased and installed DIY style. Fairly easy fix, for a very common and annoying problem. Dealership wants 450+ for parts and labor.
i have had a few issues with mine. The actuator motor itself doesn't work so the hatch wont pop when you hit the switch. Also there is a switch on the trunk lock cylinder to lock and unlock all the doors which is held on by 2 screws- the screws on mine came loose and just had to be tightened for it to work. If you need a key cylinder, you should be able to buy a new or used one and have it coded to your key at any lock smith but you should check all linkages first
Kindof funny how I just got done struggling with this in my garage, come to the computer and see this thread. It does get stuck over to the right and doesn't want to lock! I used to just spit in the latch and it worked for a few months when I had my LS LOL.
Its the actuator. my car locks and unlocks fine, but sometime i couldnt get it to pop open. after i swap out the actuator its all good. easy fix and it cost if i could remember right 60-80 bucks at the dealership
on mine the actuator doesnt make any noise but does have power and ground, I guess I could replace the electric motor inside but the complete assemble isnt too expensive
