my friend had change the oil pump off my b16a and now it has a rough idle. he told me he had put it in TDC and it still idle rough, so a friend came by and herd the motor and he said it was the timing... so i dont what it is?

what do u ppl think? and by turning on the did i bent the valves?

 

it is the timing def. It is so easy to just get one of even both of the cams off a tooth if you arent careful and tedious about it.

In order to fix it you will need to basically go through the same process as replacing the timing belt since your whole belt is off by one or two teeth. That process means removing the valve cover, removing the driver's side engine mount, removing the timing belt cover, removing all of the belts, removing the crank pulley, and then resetting the timing belt to the right specifications.

If you wouldn't change your timing belt on your own then you really can't fix this type of timing issue. So, you should find a friend who knows how to do it or take it to the mechanic and have the whole belt replaced.

It isn't terribly likely that you bent the valves if you are off by just one or two teeth. But if you fix the timing issue and the problem persists or you start to burn oil or have valve train noise then you probably bent the valves.

 

well their is no noise or burn oil, but the thing i didn't do is change the timing belt.

 

but what i did notice was that when my friend put the belt the belt was a little loose,and when i turn on the car it had rough idle, what i do remember is that before my friend change the oil pump the car didn't have a rough idle, it was smooth, but with high rpms.

 

and now it looks that the timing belt is coming out.
