Icon6 Swap - easy or not

howdy there, im not all very new to honda but if i had to say what type of car i knew about it would be Volkswagen, now that my jetta is gone, time to buy a honda again, i want to purchase a 93-00 ish civic, civic hatch, but not just keep the stock single cam. i wanna know if an engine swap would be do able, and what swap to do, im an all engine type of person so what would be the easiest to put in and build, i was thinking gsr, but im not familiar with wiring harness' and stuff, please either tell me wtf to do, or point me to the right thread that will tell me wtf to do. or even tell me what i could do to the single cam to spank other cars. thanks but yes i am a noob or whatever, nub. idk
also, i need a time frame. how long a swap would take.

thanks-
Hubbard

these should get you started.

https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-civic-del-sol-1992-2000-1/engine-swap-info-faqs-how-ck-engine-lights-878010/
https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-civic-del-sol-1992-2000-1/faqs-frequently-asked-tech-questions-1998336/

-to answer your question, if you take a few moments to research what you plan to do (which swap) before you start buying anything-- and you have the proper tools, or access to them-- you should have no trouble completing a swap.

some sites like http://www.hmotorsonline.com/shop/ have complete swaps to make life easy.

IMHO for reliable out of the box power i'd look into the GSR swap from www.hmotorsonline.com as far as a time frame for how long it would take it depends on your skill level and how well equipped your work area is.

If you're doing it in a shop with a lift and know what you're doing, then a couple hours.

If you're doing it in a driveway with hand tools and only basic knowledge, as long as a couple weeks.

i agree with what forcefedferio said. i would also add that if this is your first time swaping a motor ever, not to put a lot of pressure on yourself to get it done quickly. it's easy to make mistakes like that that could have easily been avoided (i speak from experience..haha).

if you keep organized and plan it out well, it will get done sooner than otherwise.

unless your going boost i wouldn't suggest it. you can get them pretty quick but to make them fast it takes a rich man... with alot of time on his hands

i did a little reasearch and it looks like i could get my hands on a b20. but you cant use the tranny from it, but what else would i have to mix and match, IE axles, fuel lines, coolant lines, ECU and wiring OBD are a big concern of mine, i want to know exactly what i need for the swap so that when i go to do it, im not missing one thing or have the wrong thing.

b18 ls motor would be a quick swap or ls-vtec take gsr head ($350- $400) on cl n get a b18a or b18b block get the coversion on ebizzle $180 and u can use a s80 trans
(b18b ls trans) if u dont want lsd n if u do use gsr trans

or do like i did get a b16a jdm motor from tiger jdm and swap to odb1 plug n play with s80 trans need to change ecu and they make a sub harness for vtec if ur not wired up
