ej9 with B16A swap - no vtec pull
ok so i just bought a honda civic ej9 (uk model) that has a B16a swapped into it.
when i first got it, driving it easy was making the temp was rising. then when i let it idle the temp begins to rise. this seems to have stopped and now the temp is around the middle except when i push the car.
what would cause the temp to rise when its idle?
and my other question is when i hit vtec at 5500 rpm vtec engages because i hear the distinctive b16a "BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH" roar but my rpm continues to rise at the normal pace.
When it hits 5500 rpm shouldnt the rpm go crazy until it hits the red line?
becuase right now i raced my friends 1.4i civic and i couldn't even pass him.
anything major wrong?

VTEC won't make your RPM's go crazy, it will go up a little faster, but not crazy. and yeah there's something wrong if a 1.4 is beating you =/
