So i've been installing a D16Y8 on my hatch and been running into problems left and right....

I guess my car is in the so called Limp Mode right now cuase the D4 is blinking like crazy. And the CEL code it gave me was P0758 which is shift solenoid B.

First thing I need help with is which solenoid is A and which is B?

It seems as though only 2nd and 4th Gear only want to work. and the motor hits hard when i put it on Reverse Neutral or D4.

Can anyone give me some insight?

I got the top shift solenoid and replaced it already but i dont think that did anything to it cause it feels the same.

what fluid did you put in?

 

Well the motor well directly swapped so no fluid was inter-changed. It had the orignial fluid... Im thinkin about doing a complete flush and refill with Honda ATF-Z.

But I still highly doubt that will solve the problem....

 

replace those cylinders or check all the wiring. maybe a wire got mess up.

And do you have a D1 or D2? if so control the gear through it. start in 1st and shift to 2nd.


You should had made it 5spd.

 

Im thinkin its the wiring because this guy did a rewiring of the of the transmission harnesses....

But I have another question... doing some research some guy told me that its better to convert my car into OBD1 spec....

What would I require to convert it over to OBD1.

Only thing I can think of is a Z6 Harness, dizzy, and computer.

Can anyone else give me some insight?

 

Does it even HAVE fluid in it?

If the transmission was transported at all, fluid should have been drained prior to it moving, even if it WASN'T drained, it would have almost certianly coughed up fluid when being pulled out of the car, and low fluid would/will/could cause any kind of transmission issue.

Start by addressing the wiring and CEL to rule out electrical issues, but check the fluid first of all.

 

Well.. as far as fluid being drained and filled in the tranny... that most certainly happend.. thats what i meant by inter-changed.. sorry. But TY TY yes the fluid is at level with ATF-Z. I dont kno how old but it is in there... the CEL is a P0758, P0135, P0141. The only one im concerned about is the 758. That one is the bad Shift solenoid B.

DOES ANYONE KNO WHICH OF THE SOLENOIDS ON THE TRANNY IS SOLENOID B????
