I have a JDM h22a in my 95 accord ex and I was wondering if the knock sensor actually needs to be hooked up in order for the car to run. The knock sensor on the car right now is crack and I am having a replacement sent to me. I just wanted to know if I could drive the car without the sensor being hooked up and if it would harm the engine for the week that there isnt one in there. Thanks!

 

it will run but you will throw a code, I dont know if the knock sensor will cause it to run in safe mode or not

 

Yeah you will be in safe mode with a knock CEL, but you can still drive around the car and get where you need to go.

 

I was just wondering what it actually meant to be in safe mode? Does it mean that there will be a decrease in performance for about a week??

 

Means no vtec and your gas mileage will suck for a few days.. Car will seem a little hesistant..
