1996 Climate Air wont turn on for first 5mins
Hi
In the last 6months or so the climate air does not come on when the car is started. The control is totally dead, pushing the buttons does nothing.
After approx 5mins it turns itself on.
I am unsure if it its related to the car warming the engine up, or just a timing (or movement) thing.
1996 vti-s Japan built (I am in New Zealand).
Any ideas?
Thanks
AndyC

Diagnosed to faulty "heater control assembly" (aka auto air conditioner control assembly".
Apparently the circuit boards get old and brittle and eventually fail.
Prohibitively expensive to replace with a Honda part, quoted $2500 (NZ). Honda will not fix these here (I guess its not a mechanical fault). They suggested 2nd hand, but warned these may well fail also.
Found an auto elec circuit place (ecu.co.nz) who pull these out and try and repair the circuits, and if they cannot they will replace it with a 2nd hand unit they have inspected/fixed. Cost estimate is $300 (NZ).
