OT question, please help
ok, sorry to bring up this old topic but i have a question that's been bugging me for the longest time. my question is: i installed the ricey "vtec light" and was wondering if is should put some kind of fuse between the bulb and ecu? i know that led's never burnout but i'm using a bulb from a toy train set so i don't have to mess w/ resistors and whatnot and worried that the bulb might eventually go out and end up shorting out the ecu. are there any ways to protect the ecu? also, are there any kind of devices that allows electric current to run only in one direction? i'm asking this because i attached a toggle switch to my alarm siren to holler at cuties when cruising around or get someone's attention to initiate a race but am also worried that this might also harm the alarm itself. any suggestions? thanx

when connecting anything to a power source its always best to put an inline fuse... whatever I connect I always fuse it just in case...
and the siren idea OMG that is rice.. can probably get you a ticket too... I think I'd die laughing if someone chirped their siren to try and initiate a race w/ me...

yea, i know it ricey but believe me, i don't go around wailing the siren around every single chance i get. just like the "vtec" light, it serves little or no purpose at all and since i'm in LA, i don't really go around trying to pick up alot of races because either 1): almost everyone here is a fob around here so they think "performance" is a loud muffler and an intake. 2: Getting carjacked at gun point before, i'm not really fond of flossing around my car or let alone drive it around that often.
well your first question ws answered but your second one wasnt if you want to use the toggle swich all you have to do is use one relay ok all you have to do is cut the siren wire positve side in half you may want to do this under the dash (im assuming your trigger on your alarm is positve and you used a positive to trigger your siren with thee switch) any way your going to connect you switch to 85 on the relay and connect 86 on your relay to a good ground next your going to move on to 30 which is going to go to your alarm brain side of your siren wire the other side of the alarm wire is going to go to 87a finally your going to connect 12 volts to 87 on the relay now your siern is isolated and you wont have any problems oh by the way uour going to have to use a 15 amp fuse on your 12 volt connections
