I have a 92 hatchback with an h22. The car ran fine always but sat for a couple months this past winter. Now it still starts up fine and idles fine but when you give it gas it seems like its topping out around 4,000rpm. Almost like its hitting the rev limiter? I replaced all the old gas with premium and changed out the spark plugs. Anyone have any ideas of how i can trouble-shoot this before I end up having to take it somewhere? Thanks guys.

 

idk but id maybe check the dizzy or igniter, but i could be wrong

 

Yes, ive seen a couple other threads saying to check the dizzy, how exactly do you "check" it, just by taking it off? If the dizzy was bad would it still start everytime like it does? Thanks for the help!

 

yea my dizzy went bad so i thought started fine and sum times not. and it was the igniter. mine only would rev up to 3700 or so i didnt even get 4k . i mean it is sum to check. the only way i checked mine is i used my buddies and it ran fine put mine on his car and ran like sh+t so thats only way i know to check it

 

mine did this when my internal coil went bad. Could be as simple as a tune up, dont go buying a new dizzy. mine revved to 3500 and bounced like a rev limiter, coil igniter, plugs, wires, anything ignition related. this is definitely an ignition problem GL!!

 

yea dnt buy a new dizzy they r not cheep. just try finding sum 1 who will let u use theirs like i did. or like he said do a simple tune up see what happens

 

Thanks guys i will have to try and check the coil and igniter today, I dont really know anyone else with my motor so I cant really swap out the dizzy to check it. Any other ways i can tell if the dizzy is bad?

 

my eg8 does the same thing when im driving but only sometimes
