What Cams To use for Big power?
Hi Everyone. This is my problem. I have just spend big coin building a 97 GSR motor. darton sleaves, Eagle H-Beam Rods, Weisco 9:1 pistons KMS Coated Valves and dual springs with titanium Retainers running a 3" Thermal turbo Muffler Custom Ram Horn Manifold T60-1 From Turbonettics 3" down pipe. snow performance water/meth kit. 1000 cc injectors, and an AEM Brain. last stop is cams. i bought a set of Brian Crower stage 2 Turbo Cams only so the car would remain mild enough that i could drive it on the street. but i am being told be a coupple of people that type r cams are the way to go on turbo cars. so i am in debate on wether or not to sell the cams i have and buy type r cams for it. i know the bottom end can withstand 800 hp all day but i am trying to realisticly get about 650 to the ground. does anybody have any advise to throw my way?
In my experience I've seen better results on average from the Type Rs than the BCs regardless of how the specs of the cams look "on paper"
BC specs on paper mean nothing to me, there cams always sound big but end up not so big when time comes for tuning/dyno, i have seen them fall short on both evo and honda's, for the price you pay though there not bad...
I would stick with the CTR cams over BC cams. they make great power, OEM reliability, and your not looking into the power output which calls for a skunk2 pro1 or something of that nature

S/C is completely different from turbo so thats irrelivent. overlap works with turbo cars, the pro1's overlap like a ****.
yes 650 you can use pro1's but its not nessesary at all

i havent really decided whats going to happen with the turbo. i may go bigger. but i want to see what i can get out of the 60-1 but a twin scroll might be the way i go with it in the end. the problem i think i am going to run into is that i wont have the drivability on the street and i really dont want this to only be a track car. im really trying to make this a little more diverse then most. any suggestions?
