I recently got my car back from acura because i could feel several missfires. When i got the bill they told me that someone has been messing with the timing and that it was way off. I called the service manager back today and he still insisited that i had been playing with it. My question is, is there anyway the timing belt could slip or anything like that and throw the timing off with out physically rotating the distributor?

remember, they'll do anything to make a buck

 

I think it's slightly more likely that vibration caused the bolts on the distributer to loosen just enough for it to slip a bit.

Or it's entirely possible that it got nudged by one of the dealer techs during a previous service.

 

yeah they tried to charge me twice in one week for "adjusting and cleaning" the power window motor.

 

there is NO way that the timing belt will slip because of adjusting the spark timing by rotation the distubutor. acura needs to hire some trained tech's who dont bullshit.

there is NO way for a timing belt to slip, not even a slight chance of it sliping by changing the timing.
