EM1 License Plate Nut Problem
Just recently bought an EM1 and went to put my new Mugen license plate bolts on (to add 10 hp of course). The right side screws in no problem, BUT the left side is stripped out in a very weird way. The hole looks much higher on the nut and is much smaller and all rusty inside. The bolt is actually bigger than that hole. I cleaned it out really well and I can see that it is destroyed. Not sure how it got so F'd up, but I guess my question is how would I got about replacing it? Sorry for the n00b question, but I am new to the Honda world and didn't want to start ripping apart the trunk lid before asking. Thanks for any info!
its tack welded to the trunk. you'll have to chop it off and re-tack weld the new nut into place, i would recommend replacing both since youre already doin the work...just a little peace of mine since theyre so cheap. GL
Yeah I think the websites I have seen require you to buy two anyways. Only makes sense to do both. This is what I figured the solution would be, but wanted to makes sure. Thanks for the help everyone!
If you dont plan on ever taking the plate off again you can be cheap and put honda bond in the hole and than put a new screw thats not yet stripped in there

Is the panel it's on removable or will I have to weld it on the car?

the panel its on is the actual trunk, the only removable panel back there is the plastic panel that has the cut out to access the nut(s). you'll have to pull that off anyways to get to the nuts and replace them, otherwise you'll tear up that panel... hope this helps
This is gonna be fun . . . LOL
