I bought a 2000 DX Hatch, and it sometimes stays running when i take the key out but then shuts off when i close my drivers door. But it only does this maybe like one in every ten times i shut the car off, Every other time it shuts off as soon as i take out the key.

Ive tried shutting the car off in neutral and first gear, with the clutch depressed and up to see if i could find out if it only does it when i shut the car off a certain way but it never happens when i want it to... only when i drive somewhere and stop to get out it randomly keeps running.

Another odd thing is i can sometimes hear a click like my hazard lights are going off, but they aren't . It clicks 4 times then stops. It doesnt happen very often, but when it does its random. Sometimes while im driving, sometimes right after i shut the car off.

The car had a remote starter but the remote is missing... I was never told of an alarm system, and havent seen an alarm box or horn anywhere in the car or engine bay.

 

get new ignition and remove all weird aftermarket boxes on the firewal or under dash.
