Default Remove Intake pipe from throttle body. Should engine die?

I'm trying to trouble shoot a rough idle problem (not my car). When i remove the intake piping fron the throttle body should the engine die? I don't think it should, but maybe i'm wrong. I also assume the throttle plate should be totally closed during idle right?

It shouldn't die no... I'm assuming you're talking about an Accord. Give me some detail about your car.

Escobar. No its not an accord. Its a 95 Mazda Protege but i thought i would ask here since good technical people are on this forum.

The car has a very rough idle but runs fine at other engine speeds. Tonight i'm going to spray some throttle body cleaner to look for vacumm leaks but last night with the engine idleing (rough of course) i removed the intake pipe to look inside the throttle body and the engine shut off. It wouldnt' start again till i put the pipe back on. What does that mean?

Dont they use an MAF? If so then yes, the engine will die.

If yer sprayin that **** into your throttle body the car will die.. you should pull on the throttle rotor to rev the engine up while spraying.

If it's dying by simply takin off the intake pipe.. i'm not really sure.
