Idle Problem

ok, i've got a friend with a 92 VX HB with a 1st gen JDM B16 swap. he has been having a really bad idle problem lately and it won't idle below 2k rpm. we've adjusted the idle screw and it doesn't change. today i took off the IAC and cleaned it too, still no change. the only thigng strange is the fact that his check engine light keeps coming on, but it rarely has the same code twice in a row.
I have reset the computer a couple times and the light will go away, but there is still no change in the idle. the one thing that seems apparent to me is that their is no EVAP purge control solenoid.
OK guys, I am really stumped at this one, so help me out PLEASE!!!

what ecu are you using??? did a swap in a 93 cx had a gsr ecu at first ran like *****. got a b16 ecu ran fine. there is a valve on the side of the intake right below the throttle body (cant remember what it is called ) it has a plate on it held on by 2 8mm bolts. take those off there will be a plunger looking thang with a slot in it like a flat head.turn all the way in till it bottoms out then back it off 2 full turns. that should take care of the problem. if not start looking for a vaccum leak
