compression test help

Default compression test help

so i want to preform a compression test but before i do i need to know what fuses to pull and any other precautions i should take because i need my car to start after

Pull the fuel pump fuse and disconnect the coil wire from the coil.

Edit: Or pulling the ECU fuse as Ron suggested which disables both fuel and spark.

which is the ecu fuse?

It should be under the hood. On 92-95 civics it says "ECU" on the fuse. On 96-00 civics, it says "Back Up" on the fuse.

i ran my test and come out with. . 120. 118. 115. 120.. are those decent numbers? shouldn't i be at around 180 190 psi? should i preform a leak down as well?

Try putting like a teaspoon of oil in there before you do the compression test and see if you get different numbers. Is your car running well? You might not be doing something right.

alright ill try that.. i drove the car about 45 mins before i ran the test so the motor was semi cool..

my new numbers are 130 130 120 130.. are those too low?

For my D16Y7 which is from a 99 civic, the minimum is 135psi. I don't know what it is exactly for your motor but it should be around 130. Those numbers seem kind of low though.

What kind of car/motor do you have and how many miles on it?
