problems found in prospect carr
the car is a 93 civic si hatch that has a d16a6 block with a y8 head. the car kind of feels like its choking at the low rpms but then clears up a bit as the rpms go high. the guy told me it was because the a6 needs more gas than the y8 because of the a6's lower compression and therefore now its getting too much gas. he said a fpr will clear up the problem. is this true? if it is, what fpr should i get for it? and how easy is it to install?
second, the owner told me that the clutch is rather new but that the new throwout bearing that it came with was pretty crappy and therefore was making some weird noises. i drove the car and it would grind gears sometimes, and sometimes I wouldnt hear a thing. when the clutch is disengaged and the car is rollling it makes a whining noise. if i put the car into first and then into neutral then 2nd instead of straight to 2nd the car wouldnt grind. is this a problem with the throwout bearing or something else? TIA

Sounds like bad scynchos. Either need a rebuild or a new tranny. Can pick up a good tranny for $200 easy. Offer him $500 less than you were and tell him the tranny is bad. How much is he asking?
and any idea about the problem in the first paragraph of my post?
It cost around $200 just for the synchro set. Not to mention labor if you don't rebuild yourself. Cheaper for a used one. Is the whirring sound when the clutch pedal is up or down?
The choking sounds like a tuning issue. My bet would be he hasn't had it tuned after the swap.

the whirring happens when the clutch is disengaged. and its grinds lightly in 1st, 2nd and 3rd. yeah he hasnt gotten it tuned. he told me to just get an fpr. would that get rid of the choking?
lmao. thats always an option. but with 3,000 i havent really been able to find anything else. if you know anyone selling an eg or ek hatch manual for 3k or less, lmk. thanks
