Smanager V 1.4.1 crashing pc
My s300j was workin perfectly fine then i uploaded version 1.4.1 replacing 1.3.8 which i was previously using.
now everytime i connect the ECU to the PC and turn on the ignition the pc crashes ( blue screen) then reboots.
This is using Windows XP.
I have tried several PCs each one with XP does the same thing.
The pcs which i have tried with Windows Vista. allow me to connect S300 and turn on the ignition but there is a conflict when i go into my device manager .
I have tried countless PCs all give me this same error.
Today i tried getting another laptop, but this time i installed Version 1.3.8 and connected the ECU and it worked fine. with no issues.
I did the same thing using a virgin XP laptop and installed 1.3.8 and it worked. I took this same laptop and installed 1.4.1 and got the same blue screen. i uninstalled the Smanager software but to no avail. no matter what now this PC is no longer connecting.
I would like to know why thiswould happen?
Yes i know it is a conflict but i can connect any USB device to these laptops and they all work fine, it is only the S300.
I would like to know if there is a way i can flash(format) my ECU and try again from scratch and see if it persist?
I would like to know if there is a way to install version 1.4.1 and use the drivers from 1.3.8 which seem to work fine?
I mainly like 1.4.1 for the fan control feature. which i found a great asset to me especially since i live in the caribbean where it is hot 24/7
Anyway my personal 2 laptops no longer work with my s300 since they have windows XP.
My car is a Honda civic with a B18C motor, weisco pistons, eagle rods, buddy club cams, cam gears and valve springs, blox intake manifold, typeR throttle body. Tri-Y header, 2.5 exhaust
Hondata s300
Please assist .
once again the car works with the 1.3.8 if only installed on the PC for the first time.
The car is capable of tuning, datalogging, realtime updates, all the normal stuff, I just cant get the S300 to work with 1.4.1 on any pcs i try

Yup...and as usualy they customer service isnt the best
...great product but bad service.
they told me that it has to do with the laptops i am using i have issues with them, but what i was tryin to explain is that i used tons of laptops and alldo the same thing.
Anyway i am trouble shooting an making some progress my self.
Yesterday i spent the entire day tryin different computers ( Acers. HP, Compaqs and Dell),
Here is what i found:-
the Acer w/ windows vista:- virgin to hondata. installed the 1.3.8 and hooked it up and it connected instantly, the computer was able to upload and download. i then installed the 1.4.1 Smanager tried and got conflicts. the ecu wouldnt connect. I then uninstalled the S300 driver and reinstalled it using the drivers which came with the 1.3.8 it connected and worked however it wouldnt upload.
....
The HP #1 w/ windows vista:- Smanager 1.4.1 was installed previously, tried connecting and got nothing.... opened 1.3.8 and connected and once again everythign worked.
HP#2 w/windows vista:- this one workes with 1.4.1
Compaq w/windows vista:- s300 is conflicting with another device
Compaq w/windows XP:- ersion 1.4.1. installed i get a blue screen when the s300 in connected and i open smanager or connect it while smanager is open. otherwise the s300 is just conflicting.
Dell:- almost all versions of the smanager are installed. opened 1.3.1 and it connected opened 1.3.4 and it connected 1.3.8 adn it connected and is able to interface to and from the s300
Here is a weird thing that happened on the final lap of my tests last nite. I got to my friends house for him to adjust my idle ( he is a tuner) and we connected the Acer and made a change and tried to upload....the PC screen flashed 2 times and the car got lean to the max and died.... we tried uploadign again and nothing, we downloaded the map from teh s300 to see what went wrong and the map was a stock GSR ..... that is when we connected the Dell and when i loacted the S300 as new hardware we used the drivers frm 1.3.8 and it worked ....however them map was a GSR still. we were able to load back on my modified map and get the car started again, we were able to make changes up and down with no issues.
I have concluded that soem way some how. when i downloaded the Smanager 1.4.1 the first time and connected to my s300 the way that the s300 interacts with the drivers got corrupted and anytime it goes to 1.4.1 it freaks out.....what i would love to go is "format" my s300 and start over and i should be cool. btu i have no idea how to
any ideas?

The truth is that you contacted Hondata and based on all the information you gave, Hondata offered to issue you an RMA number, which you declined. The offer still stands for the RMA number, however you must realize that if the issues is with your laptop and there is no problem found with the s300j you will still have to determine what on your end is causing the problem.
correct. but in my trial and error the above is what i have found. I have found that my s300 works well with any pc with v 1.3.8 . or shall i say with the 1.3.8 drivers.....if i use those of 1.4.1 the pc either conflicts or crashes.
If i use the drivers for 1.3.8 and use the 1.4.1 software the pc does not upload to the ecu.
anyway as i have said i am using mulitple laptops....so if i was using one and having this problem i would definately say it is the pc. in the same instance i dont think it is fully the s300
