A6 block to Z6 head more power? Ya right.. What's wrong!?
Well.. I did the "Mini-Me" swap.. and well, so far, I have no power what so ever. It actually lags out really really bad..
I checked the compression, and all is good across all cylinders. No leaks around the gasket. My air/fuel ratio gauge says I'm a little rich, but that shouldn't cause THIS much lag.. the only thing I can think is that the fuel pressure is all wrong.. I don't have a gauge for that but oh well..
Is it required that you use the fuel pressure regulator for the Z6? How much psi does it push over the one that comes stock with the A6?

.dont know the psi of the different fpr's but everyone says you've got to use the z6 pfpr..
..is your cam timing correct? that could be another possible problem..

Ya.. I set the cam timing from TDC, belt lined up perfect. (Used the belt from the Z6).. I didn't think that the FPR would lag it out this much.. It's worse than the D15B and the DPFI I had in it before I put the A6 in!!

getting hte timing is hte key i belive.... right now im runing a d16z6 and its not fast and i belive its b/c of timing being off by a lot and since its hard to adjust timing @ the distributor (since it had to be modified to fit) it wont let me move it much, but soon enough ill fix it somehow...
yeh are u sure u lined the cam and crank up correctly? also wut ecu r u using????

What are you using to activate VTEC with?
Did you remove the oil jet out of the A6 block? Probably did, but had to ask...

for us that dont do the harness conversion do we just leave the plug connector on the solenoid disconnected (not hte single wire plug)

A6 = @36psi
Z6 = @43psi
A 19% increase in fuel pressure. But that doesn't take differences in ecu program injector pulse width into account. But I would check into the things already mentioned, too. Oil control jet, cam timing, VTEC activation, yada, yada, yada...
To catch up.. Yep, I did the oil jet.. I'm still running the OBD0 PM6.. but that was supposed to be OK for the swap.. As for the VTec activation.. I actually haven't hooked that up yet. I'm going to be going to a PR3 eventually, but the head should still produce more power than the A6. The VTEC doesn't activate until the high RPMs anyway..
Seems like the fuel pressure might be an issue. I'll also double check the cam and ignition timing.
How well does the A6 intake manifold work with it? I was told that was supposed to work OK, but obviously the larger runners and throttle body that come with the Z6 manifold are better.. but.. do you think using the stock A6 intake manifold might cause such an enormous lag!?

z6 is only vtec thats the only thing it has. it'll blow goat *** if vtec doesnt activate on that head. stock a6 manifold will work fine. not as well as a the z6 tho. im really not a fan of the z6

k i am going to give my 2 cents
check the timing (that might be ur issue in my opinion)
running rich or lean will not affect ur car that bad...... specially if u just using FPR that are just a few psi away......
then check that ur using the right MAP sensor,.. the one on top of the TB on the Z6 manifold or the one on the firewall if u still using the A6 mani.....
make sure u are using the 4G injectors and not the 5G (they will blow, happened to me)
are all vacumm lines right??
any codes at all that are afecting ur tunning??
