Default VTEC spool solenoid & vtec pressure wires switched around ?

gsr + P72 + skunk2 IM

Right now I have code 21 (vtec solenoid).

The CEL only comes on if I go past 5,100 rpms & no vtec. It does not go into LIMP MODE. After cutting off the car & restarting it, CEL is off until I go past 5,100 rpms again... and stays on until I cut off the engine.

I've done search and did oil change, checked to make sure the vtec solenoid "clicks", check for a dirty screen filter on the solenoid, .... and my last resort is that it may be wiring.

Q? wouldn't I have a CEL ALL THE TIME if i had these 2 wires switched around?
.... because if thats the case, then I know I do have it wired correctly.

Green/yellow wire is the VTEC spool solenoid, and the lower Blue/black is the pressure switch.

check the resistance (ohms) from the solenoid wire to the pin a4 on the ecu. if you get anything other than 0 it's a good wire.

Basically your telling me to test to see if it's a closed/completed circut right?

So if I put one probe in the plug wire and the other probe to the 4 PIN and get "0" its bad and means I probably have my wires crossed right?

doesnt necessarily mean your wires are crossed. it just means that you dont have a connection between the pin and the plug.

so either the wire is crossed, or broken somewhere.

but either way, do what he said, if you get 0 or no reading then you have one of those two problems.

no it doesnt need to be on to test for continuity.

all that test is for, is to make sure the wire has a connection from point A to point B.

found out the 2 wires were accidently switched around...
Vtec works fine now.
