Hey i have a 1995 civic ex (ej1) and i have a stock motor (D16z6) and i have no CEL "SOMTIMES". It's kinda wierd Because somtimes when i step on the gas hard the CEL comes on. And when i turn my car off and crank it back up it goes away for about 2 week's and when i step on the gas hard, agian it goes on. The same thing happen's. I turn it off and turn it back on it's completley off. Notice only when i gas my car really hard Somtimes! it goes on. It doesnt go on somtimes even when gas it. It goes on rarley and turns off. Any help?

 

What do you mean by 'smash?' That isn't exactly a term that tells us what you are doing when the CEL works or doesn't.

Now if you have a CEL light which comes and goes I would check the bulb inside the cluster. If it is loose you may find that the CEL comes on at strange times and then goes away because the bulb wiggles around inside the cluster.

Otherwise, add a some more information and be as exact as you can about what you are doing when the CEL comes and goes....just saying, "I smash and it comes on...." really doesn't mean anything.

well, when it comes on, jump the service plug and find out what the CEL code is.

the code will stay stored on the computer. jump the service connector and see **** it tis

 

Sorry dont mean to thread steal but I was going to post the exact same thing..... I'm having the same problem but the difference is that it is everytime I step on the gas hard the cel turns on.... Dont know what it could be.....

 

does your speedo work?
