you can chip an OBD1 P72 just as easily.

How are you running on a P73 in an EG? Are you using an OBD1 to OBD2 jumper harness? Also if the B18C1 has the oem intake manifold the P73 would not even open your intake butterflies at higher rpms because the B18C or B18C5 that the P73 runs never had that type of intake manifold. An OBD1 P72 would be the best bet for now.

Yea, I know, the car came with it and now i'm trying to replace it because I know it's not the right ECU. He was just using it to get around.

P72, unless you plan on removing your IABS, or changing to an aftermarket IM, then get a P28.

since you have a p73, you may want to check if they wired in the IABs. Should be at pin location A17 on the ecu.

A real P73 wouldn't even work in your car though...confused?

Here's my ECU setup, hopefully it will eliminate confusion even though it hasn't for me.

And I checked the barcode on the ECU it said P73 on it.

looks like you are converted from OBD1 to OBD2....

Get a chipped P72 OBD1 ecu....plug right in, everything will be nice

(check to make sure your IABS are wired. look on google, lots of tutorials).

You can get an OBD2 ecu, but you can't tune them.

OK...now things are making a bit more sense. Your car is OBD1 and is jumped to OBD2, which allows you to run the OBD2 P73. If you have a B18C1 with the typical B18C1 inake manifold an OBD1 P72 ecu would be optimal. Just remove the jumper and add the OBD1 P72. Good luck!

p28 has more potential as everyone's already hinted at. I recently did a swap and went to the p28 because the EG I have is on OBD1, it was easier to chip and modify. P72 has more restrictions because of emission controls during that time.. hence the b18c has two o2 sensors. p28 pollutes the air more . Someone correct me if i'm wrong.

It's not a box. It's a plastic "encasing," that helps to keep the bundle of wires out of the way, when the ECU gets bolted down.
