Default Fuel gauge improperly working After Walbro

So I recently installed a Walbro Fuel pump in my 1998 Ex and since the install the fuel gauge has been working improperly.

as the tank starts to empty it the needle moves very slow. When when the needle gets to the half tank mark I run out of gas. When I installed the pump I never touched the fuel float side of the tank.

What could be the problem?

just reinstall the pump or get a fuel float at a autoparts store.

reinstall?

Like take it out and then put it back in? I was thinking about just getting a new float but I can see how mine went bad from just installing the pump. Arent they in different areas of the tank?
