srs light doesnt come on at startup
I have a 1995 Honda Civic Ex, stock everything, no stereo or speakers (except for tweeters in the door. The srs light doesnt come on when the key is inserted and turned, or when the car is actually cranked. Also a cel is present immediately, even after the code is cleared and before the engine is ever cranked. Code 10 for the cel. I tried to pull a code for the srs, but no luck. I also checked to make sure that the bulb in the srs slot wasn't burned out, and it was not. I have been trying everything to remedy the code 14 that occurs after the car has been running for awhile, now I have this problem to contend with. I disconnected the ecu (with the neg battery terminal off), as well as the underdash fuse box as a last resort to fix the code 14, then put everything back together again, and ever since I have this new set of problems.
You may have damaged the SRS control unit with the aggressive electrical stimulation you have been going through. I am not an expert on the SRS system but the Honda manual warns about excessive electrical system exposure and that it can lead to failure or premature discharge of the airbags. They always warn to put the SRS short plug onto the system when you are doing any electrical work under the dash or in the engine bay. If you didn't do that and started mucking around with the car's electrical system you could have caused a failure.
I would recommend checking the relay for the SRS system. Make sure it is working.
It is also possible that some one of your airbag electrical connectors is not plugged in or is shorted out. On my Civic I had accidentally unplugged the sensor under the seat and it caused me to have an SRS warning light. So, check that all of your plugs are plugged in and fully seated.
Other than that you may need to see the dealership about it. There isn't much information available about the SRS and troubleshooting it in the Honda manuals out there. Honda seems to want to have consumers bring their cars in when there is anything wrong with it. I guess that would be because lawyers require a certified tech to work on a safety related electrical system.

I have cleaned two different IACV valves and installed them, but still get the code 14.
Side note, even after I clear the codes from the ecu, and BEFORE I start the engine, I get a code 10.
Thanks for the reply!

The engine is no longer throwing the code 14 ~ Yea!!! ~ but it still show a cel (code 10) before I start the car, even after clearing the ecu.
I checked the IAT wires as well as the IACV wires, changed my PCV valve and now no more code 14.
