so you got the SOHC accord F block? you gotta ask yourself at least one time before you installed the engine why it's only 150 bucks.

edit: do a leakdown and compression test and change your headgasket in my opinion and if you're good after that then you got off lucky.

sounds like a bundle of problems man. why not just look past this and try something less stressful. get some more information on the car as well. how do you do a leakdown and compression test? well unless you have the tools I would reccomend taking it to your local performance shop. I believe I paid 60-75 bucks for mine and then the shop can be able to tell you what kind of psi you have in each cycliner. then compare that to what kind of pistons are in the car and ask yourself; shouldn't there be more than 90psi in cylinder 3? at that point you can make a more educated decision wether the block has blown piston rings and if you want to deal with someone elses problems.

and the head you're talking about having 16 valves pretty much covers about every honda head so you're going to have to get more specific than that.

I'm kind-of lost here, and I'm sure most others are as well.....

You say you have a D15B8 but then you posted a link to an Accord SOHC motor. Which one do you have?

Did you buy a swap recently? If you did...how do you know what was replaced on it?

Do you have any other issues other than smoking?

ok let me recap...my motor (D15B8)..is smoking really bad and im not sure why..i know its burning oil...the link was for a possible swap i could get but was wonder if it would be to much of a hassel, i have not bought this motor yet,.....but i have a 16 valve head that i have no clue what motor it came from..and was wonder how to tell if it was a vtec hed or not, and if it can work on my car i want to put that on and see if it was just the valve seals

Is the head a DOHC head?

What color is the smoke from your current set-up?

Why not go for an easier swap?

You haven't found any other swaps? Have you looked? The boards are full of places to buy them or you could buy one from someone on the boards.

Anything that you buy super cheap will not be the best quality engine. You have to spend money to get something of quality.

For the time being, why don't you get your engine to stop burning oil and then save some more money for a higher quality swap?

That engine will cost a good amount to swap in. You'll have to buy mounts, trans, shift linkage, etc.

You could use a D series trans with an adapter...but...then you'd have to buy the adapter.

F series engines mount just like H series engines. The F and H transmissions are also interchangeable.

Don't do it. Buy another D series if you want a cheap swap.

??? your car comes with a 16 valve unless it's a CX.

You can't use the Accord's F series head on your D series if that's what you're asking.

Do you even know what the head you have is? Do you know what motor it came on? You can't just go putting any old head on any old block.

i have a cx(8valve)..and the guy i got the car from gave me the head cause he blew the head gasket from it over heating, he thought he cracked the head so he oerded this one from ebay saying d15b8 he took the old head to the shop to get checked and it was fine, so he never put the new one on he just replaced the head gasket and put the old one on...he called a honda dealership and they said it would work no problem, its just a 16 valve...im not talking about the acorrd motor anymore...
