my car has always just died on a random basis when i come to a stop, so far i have changed my distributor cap, rotor, wires and plugs, and ive ran seafoam through it.... is it my coil just stopping? is this common? its really starting to **** me off ...

it also idles REALLY low and it doesnt get any higher the distributor is already adjusted to what should be the highest idle...

 

you adjusted the distributor to try and change your idle? there is a screw on the throttle body to adjust your idle.

 

on the throttle body? never seen one. this is mpfi btw.

 

yep its on the tb. use a flathead screwdriver to adjust it. clockwise to lower the idle, ccw to raise it.

 

is that on every tb? because mine looks a little different.

 

i want to say its on like all 88-95 mpfi tb's but i'm not absolutely sure of that. do you know what tb you have?

 

its the hf model tb and it looks a little different, some of the same characteristics tho ill check tomorrow and thanks.

when ur stoped do ur RPMs go up and down??? does it randomly spike when ur crusin???

 

when i slow down to a stop the car just died completley until i let the clutch out to rolling start it back up. it does it when i push the clutch in sometimes too.

 

hmmm wierd i would say its ur idle air control motor. but wat the other guy says sounds pretty right. try it

 

yeah my idle was just screwed all the way in and it died instead of idling since the idle was too low. i adjusted the idle with the screw he showed me ^ ^ ^ it was located on the top of the TB and now i have no problems with the car dying.. thanks ^_^

 

BTW what TB was in that picture?
