Help Please b16a2 idle promblem
ok So i got a b16a2 swap in a 98 ek and i have a idling promblem so i Blocked off the vacuums on the intake manifold for the vapor canister and i bought the IAC valve also and the car will idle at 700 but after it gets hot it it starts to idle up at 1500 and doesnt go below 1500 it almost two steps at 1500
either u need to turn your set screw on the throttle body to the left a few turns or the iacv is malfunctioning. after th car warms up unplug the iacv and set the idle to 450ish with the set screw. then plug it back up and should idle better.
I went outside and let it warm up, waiting for the fan to kick in once, then I unplugged the IACV and the car died out.
Plugged it back in and it starts right up.
Sorry to thread jack...
I'll try to advance the screw all the way, then unplug it and see if it stays on. If it doesn't, could that mean my IACV is shot?

tried with no luck... I'm thinking the IACV is shot. my next step is to shut the car off and put + battery voltage to the blk/yel terminal (on the valve) and momentarily touch ground to the blu/yel side. When doing this the valve should click, if it doesn't, then I know for sure that the IACV is bad.

so now that i replaced the IACV you want me to get the car warmed up then unplug the IACV and if it shuts off turn the throtle set screw to the left till its set at 450 and if the car runs when i unplug it what do i do
That should put you at the correct idle and it shouldn't bounce anymore. I would also reset my computer by unplugging the fuse or battery for a few seconds then replugging them back in, start the car and let it idle for 15mins. Let me know if yours works, I let my car warm up and when I unplug the IACV it just shuts off and doesn't let me adjust the screw. GL

I think you have an intake air leak that develops when the engine gets hot. Check the gaskets for the throttle body and IM and make sure they are both torqued down properly.
Thanks, I had a bad leak at the TB and replaced the TB gasket and used some liquid gasket and that helped a lot. I have a JRSC so I'll spray around the SC IM and see if I find a leak. It's been raining pretty bad the last few days and I can't get the car in the garage till I clean it out.
an easy way to check for a bad gasket on the intake side of the engine is get some starting fluid and spray it around the gasket surfaces. if the engine bogs and stalls youve found a leak. the starting fluid richens the fuel and sort of floods the engine for a second.
ok im about to go out and check for leaks when its warm the idle gets stuck at 1500 and stays there and when i take my foot off and on the gas the car like jumps i dont know how to explain it but it feels really rough
Check whether the IAT sensor in the intake is unplugged.
Look for a vacuum/intake air leak, clean the IACV, and bleed the cooling system.
OK i checked for leaks in all the gasket around the intake manifold and throttle body theres no leaks i replaced the IAC valve but the car still is idling from 750 to 2000 and after the car has been driving for around 15 mins the idle sits at 1500 rpms and bounces byitself form 1500 to 1550 and the car will almost like bog down until i get rpms past 2200 please let me know what is going on with my car someone thanks
