Default Import vs. Domestic Shootout

This event is hosted by Sasquatch Motorsports and the Modern Muscle of Minnesota car club. It is taking place on September 28th at Cedar Falls Raceway in Cedar Falls, Iowa http://www.geocities.com/cedarfallsraceway/.

"Import Vs Domestic Shootout open event grudge racing/car show"

Racing will be pure grudge match style. Find a car you want to race, and race it. Heads up. ETs dont count except for your own satisfaction. First person crossing the line wins (course they dont win anything cept for bragging rights).

At the end of the day awards will be given out to the fastest cars in the fallowing catigories.
::Fastest 14.0-14.99 car
::Fastest 13.0-13.99 car
::Fastest 12.0-12.99 car
::Fastest car under 12 seconds.

During the races, the pits will be a basic car show. Each car will have a number , and will be voted on by the competitors, with awards in these classes
::Best Import
::Best domestic

Having the pits as a car show area will give everyone at the event a chance to meet everyone, check out their cars, and see if its someone they want to race.

More info can be found at http://www.miacracing.com/forum/ikon...ff;act=SF;f=30

We need some more quick imports to show up at this event. We have a lot already but not too many Hondas, just DSMs, Supras etc. Hope to see you there!

-Seth

Here are some more details for those interested:

RULES

1) Grudge Format – No classes, no brackets, no dial-ins and no excuses. Racers will get a minimum of at least 3 races, but should get 6. The format is simple; upon event check-in (done separate from track check-in) racers will receive an event number, sign the required waiver and receive a label for the front, driver side windshield.

2) 14.99 min ET to qualify for event. No exceptions.

3) EFI only – Carbs are welcome to Test N Tune throughout the day and participate in the “Open Grudge” after the event.

4) No restriction on Tires – Street radials, drag radials and slicks are ok.

5) Drive Types -Rear-wheel drive, front-wheel drive and all-wheel-drive are ok.

6) Tech Inspection Required* – Paid entrant fee of $15.00 does not guarantee event racing. All vehicles must first pass track tech inspection.
*Call track for details. 1-(319)-987-2537and ask for Ron.

7) Mediators – Each club will have one representative in case a dispute arises. Paul from SMI and Tom from MMM are the designated ones.

8) All Event races will be Import vs. Domestic*. Test n Tune and the open grudge after the event is completely open.
*Depending on number of entrants.

9) Mandatory “Call out” Rule – Each racer is allowed 3 “call outs”. They make note of the racers they would like to race during Test n Tune and call them or commit them to race. After the race is called out, the car numbers are marked on the windshield label of both cars. To insure fair play, a volunteer will verify both cars in the staging lanes by checking to make sure the car numbers match.

10) Disqualification – To insure each entrant races at least three times, if a racer is called out he or she must race. The only exceptions will be if the vehicle is determined to be unsafe or broken by the track tech inspector and the event mediators or; they have been already “called out” three times. Otherwise they will be effectively DQ’ed.

11) Classes – Since there are no designated classes, it is up to the racer to pick the vehicle closest to theirs (based on ET) to insure a close, Competitive race.

Sorry, no payout ...but it goes all day and you can run all you want for only $15! Next year we may have a payout, it all depends on the success of this year's event.

Well, you can go for fun. But like I've ranted about before, you're playing a game of torque with guys who have tons - and you have little.

Watching a stock mustang and highly modified import "evenly" compete doesn't seem very even. Yeah I know that the 1/4 mile time is all that matters, but if it cost you thousands just to be competitive with a stock domestic, what fun is that.

Need to get those same people out to an autocross... but that's just me.

That's one thing we're thinking about doing for next year. Making the event a 1/4 mile race and a road course.
