Default ignition problem? just installed MSD.

hello,

skipping right to the point, i have a 93 civic cx with a 96 ls swap.

i just installed an msd ss coil, cap and rotor. wired the black w/yellow striped wire (+) to the + on the ss coil, and the yellow one to the negative. tripled checked it to make sure. hooked everythign up, and when i was tightening my negative battery bolt, the ratcvhed fell and touched the positive and some of the terminal flew everywhere (melted).

but it was ok cuz my lights stil came on and stuff. so i hook everything up, and try to crank the motor. wont crank. the ss coil feels hot. and when i take off the negative wire and touch the terminal, theres no spark like usually. anyone know what it could be?

did i fry the ss coil? did i fry my starter? altyernator?

please help.

Make sure you didn't leave the two wires connected on the original coil (within the distributor). If so, your car will NOT crank.

bridge your starter with a wire or screw driver ( without shocking yourself) and see if it cranks over make sure the key is in the on position c what happens

with it still being connected to the original internal coil, the car will turn over...but will not crank....as in "run".

um i took the stock coil out liek it said to. am i not supposed to? it said to take the stock one out...and just run wires out the cap from the origional coil wires and connect to the + and - terminals on the MSD coil.

You can actually still leave the stock internal coil inside the housing, but just keep it disconnected. So...what you're saying, everything in the car (headlights, radio, etc..) still works, but the car won't crank? Before you go out and buy unnecessary things, check the simple things first, such as your fuses.

I know you may not want to do this, but you can always temporarily install back the old internal coil and see if it works.

yeah i think im gonna do that...i just have to get the um cap
cuz mine was fuked up
liek one of the 4 um terminals i guess u call them? on the inside of the cap? the things that the rotor hits to send spark? yeah
well one of them was like bent at a weird angle./..pretty sure the rotor wsnt hittign it...so i think thats whay it was making a lot of sputtering sounds and u could hear the exhaust liek blowing out ****.

im tryign to get my gf to pick up a cap tomorrow
and il hook it all back in
i think i lost one of the screws that go intop the OEM coil to connect the wires...can i get hose anywhere? beside junkyard? cuz id have to buy a dizzy form them if i want the screws. lol
