Default Lsd tranny?

Ok. My transmission has s80 on the casing. But when we took it to a remote area to do some testing, we noticed it was laying rubber down from both tires.my question is... Are there any s80 trannys that come with the optional lsd or do u think it was an aftermarket one thrown in there. Thanks!

where did u get your tranny from...some jdm tranny came with lsd...only the US itr tranny came with lsd...only way to fine out if it really has lsd is to take the axle out the see if theres a pin inside the hole, if there's no pin then it has lsd..

That's the same thing my buddies told me. I bought the car with an SiR2 motor already in it. But the tranny is pretty unclear. It feels like a b16 tranny,

I know the whole setup is legit, the tranny is just puzzling to me, and I'm not tryin to take anything apart unless I have to. I just don't have the time right now

you can jack both tires up and spin one tire and if both spin the same way you have lsd. If the other tire spins the opposite way its open.

Let's dispell a few myths about LSD vs. non-LSD trannies:

1. Even an open diff (non-LSD) tranny can leave "two black marks" when doing a burn out. This means nothing. If you overload the open diff it will still fight between both front wheels for traction, thus leaving two nice black marks.

My first car, a 1990 Civic STD hatch with 70hp and definately an open-diff 4 speed manual transmission equipped slowbox, would leave two long black marks when my 16 year old dumbass would do burnouts in it.

2. You cannot determine if a tranny is LSD or not by spinng one wheel while the front of the car is off the ground - I've got an ITR tranny with LSD and when spinning one wheel the other wheel spins the opposite way. It is a myth that the wheels will spin the same way.

The only true way to tell if a tranny has an LSD is to look through the differential where the axle inner joints click in, and if there is no diagonal pin then it's an LSD. If it has the pin then it's an open diff.

He is right. U could take the axle off, but dont waste time, just jack the car up and spin the tires, if they both spin in the same direction then u do have lsd, i had a jdm itr tranny that had a s80 on the tranny, but my tranny had a R4 lsd marked on it as well so i diffenetly knew i had a jdm itr tranny. it seems to me that u have the jdm lsd gsr tranny.

LSDs can also wear out. I use to hang around some guys who go offroading in trucks and apparently stock LSDs in trucks using the clutch pack style differential will wear out in 30k miles.

I want to see an air locker, but I doubt anyone will make one.
