Default Just installed AC into my ITR... but something is wrong...

Here's where I'm at... all the mechanical parts (lines, evaporator, condenser, compressor, etc) and wiring (a/c sub harness with 2 relays under the rad support, plugged into the pressure sensor?/compressor/ac fan, there are two more relays I installed in the fuse box for the ac fan and the compressor clutch I believe, and the system is charged to 38psi.

but for some reason... the ac compressor wont kick in... I dont know where to go from here?

One thing I did notice is the clip where the ac sub harness plugs into the body harness (byt the engine cooling fan) there are 4 wires on my body harness and 7 on the sub harness... could someone look at there car and see if there's is the same way? I'm wondering if maybe the harness I grabbed was from an older DC teg and the relays I have under the rad support are the same as the ones I put in the fuse box? Perhaps the older tegs had the relays under the rad support and the newer ones like my 98 ITR have the relays in the fuse box?

Any ideas? Any thing I should be telling you guys that I'm not?

Here's the car :D

help me out, this car has been a pain in my *** since I started to bring it back to life :D

I'm thinking the sub harness is just a little different in the newer cars and I need to get a new one and that will eliminate the relays under the rad support... does anyone know wha they are for?

the early usdm ecu's didn't have ac. if i remember right you need a jdm ecu or chipped obd1 conversion that has the ac pump signal for when you turn it on. the p73a02 and a03 didn't have ac from the factory. not 100% on this

I should have mentioned I am running chrome... but I wasnt the person that tuned it.

Is it possible that the ecu is the problem?

Again if anyone can have a look at where the ac sub harness plugs into the body harness and let me know if they have the same 4 wires on the car side of the clip and 7 wires on the ac sun harness side of the clip, it would really help put one possibility to rest.

After doing some digging around it seems I have the wrong sub harness... I'm not 100% sure yet.. but I should know soon.

Also wondering if the AC switch on the climate controls is supposed to light up amber on ITR's?

I ordered one for a 98 ITR but I think they sold me one for a 1998 LS/GSR etc that lights up blue. I want an amber one.. might try to order one for a 2001 and see what happens.

AC soon :D

Are you talking about the indicator light that turns on when the ac is on? Mine also turns green when the A/C is on.

Or the backlighting behind the part that says A/C? Is that green? Thats what I'm wondering about whether or not it should be amber..

Actually, I have seen a few DC integras in Canada that did not come with A/C.

As far as they type r's go, 97-99 A/C was optional and 00-01 it was standard on all type r's.

I'm pretty sure the A/C harness is the problem... in either 96 or 97 they went from the relays being on the a/c sub harness to the relays going in the fuse box for the newer cars.

You might try to find the instructions for the dealer installed AC from the earily caRs. I installed my own AC, and I seem to remember that the instructions had about a thousand detail drawings of every part of the system.

That is correct, however, US did not receive MY99 Type R.

A/C works muahahaha

It was the harness, I picked up another one today from the wrecker!

I am still having one problem, a/c fan never turns on... checked for power and there is nothing, fuse is good, i've tried another relay... but nothing?

Anyone know how this fan is supposed to work? I might just rob power from the engine cooling fan to power this one at the same time?

The fan should come on with the AC system. If there is no power at the fan plug, did you check the fuse and the relay power source?
