Default Brake Booster and Master Cylinder compatability. I want to make sure Im wrong... :-P

Alright I did some searching today. From what I can understand or have found is that you should not use a BB from a car with ABS and a MC from a car with no ABS. Reason Im saying this is because I recently swapped the brakes on my 92 DX hatch. I put Integra brakes all around on it including a BB from an Integra RS that Im pretty sure had ABS and the MC is from an Integra RS with no ABS.

The problem is the brakes are locking up on it and I did not attempt to adjust the BB rod that pushes the MC. Personally, I have never attempted this job and from the looks of the manual thats what it looks like it could be, a total pain in the a** job.

I guess what I need to do is swap out the BB for one that is from a non ABS Integra and hope that this corrects the locking brakes problem.

no, you can't run mismatched abs/non abs booter and master. from looking at my parts, the plunger on an abs master is longer, etc. Now go to my thread about pad clips and let a brotha know whats up! LOL....please?

Sorry you have to pull **** apart now, Thats learnng though. aint it fun?

The MC on my car is supposed to be non ABS and I just checked to make sure thats what I bought and it is. The BB is from an Integra RS or LS that had ABS as I remember looked at the mashed up ABS unit and lines on the passenger side of the wheel well when I was in the bay removing junk from it (car was wrecked).........

I just looked at the Advance Auto website to check the part # on my MC that I got from them and I did indeed buy the non ABS unit. Now to fix my problem I suppose that I need to get the non ABS brake booster to correct my locking brakes problem. Or can I adjust the pushrod in the BB. Anyone got an easier way to do this?

you have to adjust the push rod...does the car brake fine at first then they start to lock up slowly? if so it definitely is the push rod

Yeah man, thats what is going on. There is not too much info about this push rod adjustment that I have ran across yet. I have asked a few guys that I know, that are avid racers of Hondas and they could not give me too much helpful info.

Thinking about throwing the stock Civic BB and master cylinder back on there. Actually, I have to go get a MC. I tried to adjust the pushrod on the Teg BB and that was a no go. It didnt move any, something else could be up with that BB............

try to adjust the brake light sensor...loosen it some so that it will give more slack on the rod

Well, I tried to adjust the Integra BB that I had. That actual pushrod that contacts the MC did not adjust any at all when I turned the part of the pushrod that connected to the brake pedal. I had my Civic BB sitting there while I was attempting to adjust to Integra BB and noticed that the Integra BB pushrod had a lot of slop in it, meaning it was sitting in there very loose. The Civic BB pushrod did not have that same slop or play in it. I thought that the Integra BB may possibly be broken, since it was removed from a wrecked car.

I do not want to start adjusting this and that and not correct the problem. If all it takes is me swapping in the Civic BB and getting another Civic MC to correct this problem, Im willing to do that. Im trying to get this thing finished up before my summer classes start and get it on the dyno so I can atleast hit up the track a time or two. Oh by the way, not the road course its only the drag strip for this car.

I corrected my problem today. Got my Civic BB and a Civic MC back in there. Seems to be working fine so far.

I still have the Integra BB and MC and I do not think anything is really wrong with either of them. They just do not want to work together. I adjusted the pushrod and it didnt help any that I could tell. I didnt drive the car with the new adjustment, but it didnt feel any different at the pedal.

Anyways, problem corrected for now.

I'm having the exact same problems as you. I have a 95 civic dx coupe and swapped in 99-00 SiR brakes all around, and I also swapped in a Integra RS MC and BB and my rear brakes slowly start to lock up on me. I did switch my prop valve to the 40/40 Integra RS and thought maybe that was the issue, so I put my stock 30/30 valve back in and I'm still having the same issue.

I think I'm going to put the stock DX MC and BB back in.
