sputters under 1200rpm
I have a 99 GSR and for the past 3 weeks my car has been sputtering or detonating under 1200rpm. Even at idle it sputters. What are some things that could cause this?
im having the same problem but mine sputters under 1k or 900 rpm i was told this
Default Re: Low Idle Problem?????
Could be! get a volt meter set it at 20vdc probe the middle wire of the tps plug with the red probe and the black to your - batery terminal, put the key to the start position but dont start the car! check voltage it should be .50 and then when you manually open the throtle to WOT it should read 4.5 now if thats on point then leave it if not you must remove it from its rivits and install 2 small bolts and calibrate it until its within spec. if its in spec then look at your iacv its behind the intake manifold check for pinched wires in the plug or take the 2 12mm bolts out and clean it with carb cleaner theres also a screan you can replace if its cloged or too dirty. if it still does it then check for a vacume leak in any vacume line start from the fuel pressure regulator, then report back. im till checking for any of these so i coodnt tell u most likely im goin wit the tps sensor so please let me knoe with wat u come up with iight

its crazy cause most ppl know about the ??? we are asking and no one response lol but ppl response to need help car lowering lol its krazy now a dayz
Same was happening to me ('95 GSR). It would sputter and box all the way to 3k rpm and then clear up and run fine. It ended up being a broken plug wire. the insulator was cracked, so it was grounding the spark on the spark plug tube.

well everyone i cleaned the IACV and the FITV and its not that bad of a low idle like b4 when it wanted to like shut off but didnt ..now its staying up on idle and just a lil rpm change like very quick low then bac to highs .....so their clean should i go after the tps sensor now no vacumme leaks either so damn i dnt know wats next except the tps ANy 1 else know wat it could be THANKS IN ADVANCE
ron m have u cleaned your iacv and ur fitv if not try cleaning them up...not that long to do .....i did mine and it stop a lil but still sputters a little tiny bit Could it be the tps Sensor now any 1
I'd check your plugs and wires first before worrying about the sensors. Could be you're misfiring?
Does it sputter at idle and during low rpm's? Just solved a similiar problem on my lady's CRX just the other day. It was doing just that and got worse over time. Our go-to guy for fixes suggested new wires. While replacing wires, I found plug in cylinder 3 covered in oil. Turned out to be bad plug gasket. Replaced O-ring seals and valve cover gasket and now purrs like a kitten at idle and torquey to boot!
Not saying that you'd blown a gasket, but I'd check to see if all cylinders are doing what their supposed to. Inspect condition of your plugs, same with wires, check wire connections. You'd be surprised how many people find out they had a loose plug or wire.
Good luck.
