T56 shifter for a Joe Gibbs supercharged Silverado
I had a customer come in with a Joe Gibbs Racing supercharged Silverado. He had a 6 speed installed however the company that completed the swap botched up the shifter pretty bad. He wanted a custom length shifter that would allow him to leave his cup holders and fit the center console properly. Here is the base piece. I am going to make the final upper shifter rod out of 7 series aluminum. The base shown here is laser cut 304 stainless.

Could you cut a groove/slot into the base to allow the extension to slip in and be secured by bolts? It seems like the way the 2 pieces are shown in the picture that they will eventually loosen up over time.
That could be done, but this is how it's done from the factory. 2 M8 fasteners and loctite should provide sufficient clamping force to keep this together for years of abuse.

Ok guys here you go. I need to make some quick spacers for it, thread the rod for the shifter ball, and touch up the polish job, but it seems to work perfect.

Damn what a sleeper! Must confuse people left and right.
I'm just confused why you'd need 7xxx alum. The only reason alum shifters break are because they are CAST metal, in addition to being low-strength CDM aluminum. I can understand wanting the extra strength, but I'd rather snap a shifter than a fork.

If you are commenting on the length, the screws have changed for the finish install. I had to add spacers to get it to fit up properly. I'll post final pictures tomorrow. Finish installation tonight.
It may, i'm not sure. The owner told me that this model only came with a slush-box and he had it converted.
Here is the finished product. I timed the threads so the ball wouldn't need a jam nut. Nice clean installation...
