theiving morons !
yo ! last night some moron broke into my hatch and only took my cd booklet and my crapy sub ! damn junkies ! no marks on the doors for forced break in ! nothing ! i need to get an alarm ! can any one suggest anything ? i know im putting this post on the wrong message board but, hell... i just had to get it out...
I'm also paranoid my car will get broken into a 3rd time. Are alarms hard to install? I love doing everything to the car myself and hate waiting for installation.
this is the first time i got broken into, ive lived in hartford ct my whole life ... everyone is always sayin "dude ! ur gonna get shot" or "anyone ever stolen your car or broken into it !" and i tell them that its really not that bad here, cause it really isnt ! i dont mind that they stole my stuff, all i hope is that they seel everything for drug money, get some crack and over dose and DIE ! they got my fossle watch ! it matched my car man ! it had a red face on it ! same color as my car ! and my girls wallet too !
hood sensors are just little pin(s) that when the hood opens, the alarm goes off. basically, if someone can get access to your engine bay, they have access to your car. my stepdad worked for an insurance agency and basically knows exactly how ppl steal cars (no bricks through the window, no coathangers, no slim jims) but i dont want to give out any details since a carjacker might be reading. but my advice is to buy these hood sensors, more than 1 shock sensor, backup sirens (placed somewhere other than under the hood). dont get lojack unless you are in a hurry to find your car stripped to the frame.

can i get the hood sensors installed at any car alarm store ?
if you want your car not to get stolen, remove the main relay from under the dash when you get out: no fuel pump comes on. only someone who REALLY knows their **** will think to bridge it. to keep people from breaking into your baby, put it inside. that's the only failsafe against ******* moron thieves.
Dont think that an alarm is gonna tottally protect you'r car you shoul do as much as you can to protect you'r ride. Like pull ecu, club , autolock, pull fuses, and alarm the only thing that will get you with all that done is a tow truck
. Unless that thief brings lots of spare parts.

well, I don't think that'll keep the car from being broken into, just stolen altogether.

The alarm install is not as hard as it sounds.. a good alarm install can be performed by most anyone with common knowledge in 12 volt vehicle wiring and basic interior disassembly. Full installations will take half a day, and you will need the minimum following tools:
wire crimper/stripper ($25-$45)
t-tap connectors ($4.00) make sure to get male and female connects)
butt splice connectors (8 gauge through 18 gauge) ($5-$10)
razor blade ($.49)
electrical tape ($2.50)
test light or multimeter ($19.95-$450.00) spend at least $29.00 on it.
instructions for the alarm (free)
a vehicle wiring diagram (will tell you all colors of wires and corrosponding connection names for alarm.) (free)
Screw drivers ($you should have these)
Metric sockets & ratchet ($these too)
soldering iron (OPTIONAL) ($9.95-89.95)
solder (OPTIONAL) ($2.00)
There are many ways to make your alarm unique like led placement, extra sirens and placement, unique placement of the alarm brain, hidden and protected siren and siren wires, backup siren, but the most important thing to remember when installing an alarm system is you need to hide ALL of your wires and connections, the more time you take, the more time it'll take them to get your chit, and remember that if the alarm has no power going to it, it cant help you so find a small backup battery and USE IT!

the diagrams alone are found here: http://www.the12volt.com/info/diagrams.asp

simple alram is easy to install. just plugs into the positive and the negative. but i would go to a security/sound shops and get a remote engine kill system. when u know ur car got stolen u can press the pager and ur car dies. it also has the regular features like the warning beeps and panic button and so on.
my ex's car got broken into a couple months ago and all they stole was the radio (low-end sony head unit ) and her cd book containing a whole 6 burnt CDs.
