Icon7 AC Condenser Fan Question

I have a 1996 Accord LX 4cyl sedan, car started running hot found the inlet heater hose had sprung a leak, my question is does the AC Condenser fan run even though the AC is not on or has not been turned on?

Thanks for any help.

if the heater hose is leaking then you must be leaking coolant. air trapped, where coolant should be, can cause overheating and corrosion and among some other problems. When you are idling for a long while or coolant reach a certain temp from driving both fans will turn on, provided that everything is functioning properly.

Thanks for your imput aasaa666, I'm going to buy the hose tomorrow and I need to replace the ac condenser fan as well it's making some noise like the bearing is going south. But my main concern was does the ac condenser fan run even though the ac is not on and when the motor reaches a set temp.

On the 1992 Accords, both the radiator cooling fan and the AC condenser fan always run together, even if the AC is not being used -- they pretty much share the circuitry, and they are both connected to the coolant temp switch A (it's the one in front of the thermostat) and kick in as soon as the temp reaches 95C or something like that. The same probably goes for the 1996 Accords.

94-96 accords only run 1 fan when ac is off. when you turn on the A/C both fans run until the car reaches between 42-48 mph and then they turn off as they are not needed

does it look like there is oil under your distributor cap(im assuming thats where the leak was on the heater hose) and on the hose around the hole? if so then your distributor seal is leaking which could be the cause of the hole in the hose there. The same thing happened to me and it overheated and warped the head.

After replacing the Inlet Heater Hose and Thermostat I took my car to a local shop to get the Check Engine Light diagnosed, the code was P0117 Engine Coolant Temp Sensor and he said also that the O ring for the distributor was leaking, good call 95LxCD5. I also ordered a new AC Condenser Fan on line for $50.00.

Thanks for all the help you guy's Rock
